# Alarm Settings via PlantPax Faceplates Guide
For each object that you wish to enable or disable alarms:
-
start by selecting the object you wish to configure-
select the bell icon from the left side of pop up
-
This will show all available alarm conditions for that object-
Light grey indicates that the alarm is not configured-
Black indicates that it is configured to alarm

-
After Selecting the alarm you wish to configure select the wrench Icon
-
Here you can select the severity. Refer to the color coded chart at the bottom of that pop up to determine which severity range to place it in. This will play into our Win911 call out strategy, and determine the colors and icons to use on SCADA for alarm indicators.-
Disabling the alarm here will prevent the alarm from triggering.
-
Next, select the icon with the 3 Sliders right next to the home icon.

-
The first tab that pops up contains options for the alarm
-
The alarm is configured to exist and will be scanned - this option tells the system to create and scan for this alarm. (this turns the alarm condition from light grey to black as we saw earlier)-
Acknowledge required will wait for the alarm to be acknowledged before clearing it from the alarm list. If unchecked the alarm will automatically clear if the alarm condition clears.-
Reset required will require an implicit reset from the faceplate to clear the alarm-
Shelving refers to the ability to "snooze" the alarm. It will be removed from the alarm list for the shelving duration and pop back up as a new alarm afterwards.-
Minimum time alarm output stays on will allow you to hold the alarm condition for a certain amount of time.. useful for alarms that clear themselves. If you want it to stay in the list for a specified duration before it clears itself.

-
The second tab contains a single text box which will contain the text for the alarm condition.. This is added to the Alarm Message which will ultimately be used by Win911 for annunciation.

-
The final consideration for building the annunciation message is to set the description for the object.
-
Select the wrench icon on the piece of equipment or object -
Select the 3 sliders icon-
Select the second tab-
the first textbox contains the description of the object that will be used for the alarm message. This is combined with the alarm condition text specified in step 6.
