**14:32 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773869548984099):** can we hit port 502 for modbus TCP over that ip address?
**14:34 [andy](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773869650634299):** I will have to open that port. Let me do that right now.
**14:35 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773869711552239):** do you know if these are holding registers? or input states? trying to make sense of the addresses
**14:43 [andy](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870211000109):** I don’t know I let Gemini try to read the documentation and convert the spreadsheet and was hoping it would work, the register numbers don’t make a lot of sense to me either. I’m locked out of that router because of some subscription issue that I don’t think is true so let's do this later
**14:44 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870280650619):** Copy. Sounds good
**14:47 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870466487929):** if we get really stuck i have some ideas on how to read in the data using the optoMMP protocol over that port 2455 and converting it
**14:48 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870488139469):** but that feels like it should not be our first approach
**14:48 [andy](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870498770949):** This is supposed to be natively supported so I definitely want to try to make it work how it’s supposed to first.
**14:48 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870504097809):** i agree
**14:48 [andy](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870523274389):** I was just hoping I could shortcut with AI and I think I’m gonna have to do a few of them and have AI continue the conversion rather than having it handle it completely
**14:49 [andy](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870563423469):** I should put mod scan on the server computer and I could test it myself, right?
**14:49 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870598130689):** yeah.. with the vpn connection up you should be able to run a modbus scanner from your computer.. as long as modbus tcp is enabled and ports are forwarded
**14:50 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870614569499):** or yeah try to scan locally on the other side of the firewall to rule out firewall stuff
**14:54 [andy](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773870866254899):** I'm gonna start local
**16:39 [andy](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773877150668619):** If we are skipping sr3 for now, I can just message the AB controller directly. I don't think I have to figure this out.
**17:37 [Mason Radke](https://slack.com/archives/C08TVA84PD4/p1773880648971589):** OK, let me know. I can definitely build a data bridge that speaks both languages. It’s kind of the nuclear option, but it would definitely work.
